Deputies arrest 2 suspects on murder charges for Miami fatal shooting

MIAMI ā€“ Two men have been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in Miami.

The shooting happened on Dec. 22 along the 26000 block of Southwest 138th Court and claimed the life of 37-year-old JD Jones Jr.

According to an arrest form, the victims were hanging out at the location where the shooting took place when the suspects approached them.

Those suspects have been identified as 31-year-old Andrew Reily and 20-year-old John Lockley.

Both victims were shot by the suspects.

Jones Jr. was shot when the suspects first arrived and the surviving victim was shot while trying to flee after initially following their orders and getting into a vehicle, per the arrest form.

The surviving victim pretended to be dead after he was shot in the back of the head, and after that the suspects abandoned the vehicle fled the scene, police said.

Police said the surviving victim was then able to drive the vehicle to a nearby gas station.

The surviving victim knew both of the suspects and was able to positively identify them to investigators, and witnesses who police spoke to were able to corroborate the victimā€™s description of the sequence of events, as well as also identifying the suspects.

Police then used cell phone records of the suspects, as well as from the victimā€™s phone, to confirm the suspects identities.

They were both arrested by the Miami-Dade Sheriffā€™s Office on Monday and are facing several felony charges, including second degree murder, first degree attempted murder, kidnapping and tampering with evidence.
