U.S. Figure Skating and The Kremlin announced Thursday that two World Champions were in the American Airlines jet that collided with a U.S. Army helicopter on Wednesday night in Washington, D.C.

Vadim Naumov and Evgenia Shishkova, who were married, allegedly boarded American Airlines Flight 5342 with 58 other passengers in Wichita, Kansas after several events including the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

The Skating Club of Boston listed Naumov and Shishkova as coaches and also identified four other victims aboard flight 5342 as athletes Jinna Han and Spencer Lane and their mothers Jin Han and Christine Lane.

Naumov and Shishkova competed in both the Soviet Union and Russian teams, won the 1994 World Championship in pairs figure skating, moved to the U.S. about four years later, and were working as award-winning coaches.
