According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Thierry Michael Morno, of North Miami, rented a gold Audi A6 and then shot at the victims’ black Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 as they were traveling north on Northwest 27th Avenue near 118th Street on the afternoon of Dec. 17, 2023.
Police said the victims -- a male and two females -- are all siblings.
According to an arrest report, the driver was shot in the face, hand and leg; the front passenger was shot in the head and back; and the rear passenger was shot in her left thigh.
The front passenger later died at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, according to the report, while the other two victims suffered critical injuries.
According to the report, surveillance video shows the car Morno was in waiting for the victim’s vehicle prior to the shooting.
Cellphone records also placed him at the scene of the crime, authorities said.
According to the report, a search of Morno’s cellphone revealed text messages between him and another person discussing the purchase of a Glock pistol for $900.
“This particular Glock pistol model is chambered in .40 caliber; one of the two calibers of spent shell casings collected at the scene,” the report stated.
Morno faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in connection with the case.
A motive for the triple shooting was not stated in the arrest report.
Morno is also facing charges related to a home invasion robbery and shooting that occurred in Miami in December.
According to a separate arrest report, one of two victims was meeting with an unidentified man around 2 a.m. Dec. 27 at an apartment building at 1424 NE Miami Place.
Police said the man and three other males, including Morno, showed up to the apartment building wearing masks and hoodies to cover their faces.
According to the report, the victim allowed the group inside the apartment unit, but just seconds after being let in, one of the offenders pulled out a gun, pointed it at a second victim who was sitting in the kitchen area and said, “Take it off. Give me that s***!” -- referring to the victim’s gold chain and watch.
Police said the first victim then made a “sudden movement,” leading to one of the offenders shooting him in the lower back.
All four offenders then ran out of the apartment.
According to the report, surveillance video obtained from the hallway of the apartment building shows Morno running away with a gun in his right hand.
Police said his face can be clearly seen in the footage.
The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Morno was being held at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center where his bond had yet to be set.
