Deputies seek masked gunmen caught on camera in Broward store robbery attempt

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office released surveillance video Wednesday of an attempted armed robbery that they said occurred at a convenience store in unincorporated central Broward last month.

The incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2024, at Big Champs Food Store, located at 2409 N.W. 15th Ct., near Fort Lauderdale.

Surveillance video footage shows two armed individuals entering the store, both wearing gloves, sunglasses, and facemasks, according to investigators.

Deputies said one suspect was dressed entirely in black, while the other wore a black hoodie with an orange design, black pants, and black shoes.

One of the robbers held a clerk at gunpoint before entering the back office and attempting to access the store’s safe, while the second suspect remained near the front, trying to get behind the counter, deputies said.

Moments later, authorities said both suspects fled the store on foot, heading north.
