FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded Tuesday morning to a broken gas line at 3001 Alhambra Street near Fort Lauderdale Beach.
Hazmat crews were dispatched to mitigate the leak, prompting intermittent traffic closures along A1A and North Birch Road, according to FLFR.
Crews have temporarily plugged the gas leak but are continuing efforts to fully secure it, an FLFR spokesperson confirmed.
Authorities told Local 10 News around 11:10 a.m. that traffic disruptions in the area could last for another hour or longer.
FLFR advised drivers to avoid the area while emergency crews worked to contain the situation.
Cellphone video of the response, obtained by Local 10 News, shows firefighters securing the scene and directing traffic in the area.
No injuries have been reported, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the leak.
