According to police, officers responded to the 3400 block of Northwest Seventh Street at about 9 p.m. after receiving reports about a shooting.

Police said officers found multiple shell casings at the scene.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office dispatch informed officers that a woman, identified Friday as 29-year-old Brittany Chatman, had driven herself to HCA Florida Plantation Emergency Hospital with gunshot wounds. A woman who identified herself as Chatman’s mother told Local 10 News that her daughter, however, was driven to the hospital by someone else in a “private car.”

She died shortly after arriving, according to investigators.

Police said the motive for the shooting remains unknown and there are no known suspects at this time.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Lauderhill Police Department at 954-497-4700 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
