CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – An 18-year-old student at Coral Springs Charter School is facing a felony charge after police said she posted a shooting threat on Snapchat.

Coral Springs police arrested Rachell Diane Varela Gomez, of Tamarac, on a second-degree charge of written threats to kill or do bodily injury on Tuesday.
According to an arrest report, Varela Gomez posted, “I’m dead a-- bout to shoot this dumb ahh school fam not on no troll shi” sometime between noon and 12:15 p.m. that day.
The FBI alerted Coral Springs police to the threat just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The threat was traced back to the school’s campus at 3205 N. University Drive, the report states.
Police said security escorted Varela Gomez to the front office. The rest of her arrest report was redacted.
Varela Gomez, pictured with tightly-pursed lips in her Broward Sheriff’s Office mugshot, was being held in the agency’s Main Jail on a $10,000 bond as of late Wednesday afternoon.
Jail records listed her bond as “pending” and stated she will be subject to electronic monitoring once released.
