Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene near Northwest Seventh Avenue and Northwest 107th Street just before 4:30 a.m.

Deputies said they found the victim suffering from a stab wound to her left arm.

The victim told deputies she had been arguing with a woman inside the liquor store which led to the alleged attack, according to an arrest report.

After the victim left the liquor store, Marquita Shawta Burns approached her, exited a car, and said, “I got something for you,” before pulling out a knife and stabbing her in the left arm, deputies wrote in the report.

The victim’s mother told authorities she witnessed the attack shortly after receiving a call from her daughter during the argument. She said she saw Burns fleeing the scene in a silver Hyundai Sonata, the report stated.

The victim was treated for a one-inch puncture wound to her left bicep, which required two stitches, authorities said.

Two days later, deputies said they located Burns and her car one block away from the liquor store and took her into custody.

After being read her Miranda rights, deputies said Burns admitted to being at the liquor store during the initial altercation, which she said involved a child, but denied any physical involvement. The age of the victim was not disclosed in the arrest report.

Detectives said both the victim and her mother identified Burns as the suspect.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive or identified the relationship between Burns and the victim.

Jail records show Burns is facing one count each of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm.

As of Tuesday, she was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
