It happened Sunday in the early morning hours behind the club located at 3615 NW S River Dr. in Miami.

The yacht, which Local 10 News has learned was being rented at the time by well-known music producer and recording artist Metro Boomin, later sank into the Miami River.

Workers at the club told Local 10 News’ Trent Kelly that the 95-foot yacht pulled up around 3 a.m., but about 15 minutes after docking, someone started to smell smoke coming from the vessel.

Employees immediately jumped into action, helping to evacuate the approximately 10 guests who were onboard, including Metro Boomin, plus another five or so boat workers, they said.

“Around 3 o’clock the boat arrived, it was Metro Boomin,” said Michael Marhefka, Director of Security at the Booby Trap on the River. “The boat pulled up and they were on the boat maybe 30 minutes at the dock and we noticed what sounded like fire alarms going off. When we looked at the boat we did see some smoke inside the boat. We made the determination to evacuate the boat immediately.”

From about 3:30 a.m. onward, the yacht continued to burn, with firefighters there continuing to douse it with water and foam for hours.

At one point, they even used a ladder truck to attack the flames aerially, with the yacht eventually sinking into the Miami River just before 7 a.m.

Authorities said the yacht remains there for the time being, as it is still tied to the dock, with crews now working on coming up with a removal plan for that charred wreckage.

There were no injuries reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
