BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Humane Society of Broward County is gearing up for its biggest fundraiser of the year, the Walk for the Animals, scheduled for Feb. 1, at Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park in Fort Lauderdale.
HSBC’s Cherie Wachter emphasized the critical role the event plays in funding the nonprofit’s operations.
“Our goal is to raise over half a million dollars, which represents a significant portion of our $8 million annual budget,” Wachter said. “We rely solely on donations to care for animals like Jasmine and so many others.”
Jasmine, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois mix currently available for adoption made her Local 10 News debut on Saturday.
Rescued from Broward County Animal Care, Wachter said Jasmine has shown her smarts and charm, performing tricks like rolling over and shaking paws. “She’s incredibly intelligent and would thrive with an active family,” Wachter said.
The Walk for the Animals welcomes participants and their furry companions for a day of fun while raising funds for the shelter’s mission.
