Police investigate after man shot dead outside Fort Lauderdale warehouse

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man was killed in shooting Thursday morning outside of a warehouse in Fort Lauderdale, police confirmed.

Fort Lauderdale police said officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1600 block of Southwest Third Avenue just after 11:20 a.m.

Upon arrival, investigators said they found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sky 10 hovered over the scene at approximately 11:35 a.m., where officers were surveilling the crime scene.

Witnesses told Local 10 News that the incident appeared to be a targeted shooting.

Yellow crime scene tape blocked off the area, with evidence markers scattered on the ground and first responders nearby. A body could be seen lying on the pavement outside of the warehouse.

Casey Liening, a spokeswoman with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, said the culprit fled the scene quickly in a vehicle after the shooting occurred.

No additional details about the victim, possible suspects, or the vehicle involved were immediately released.
