MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 35-year-old man was arrested Monday after deputies said he stole thousands of dollars worth of perfume from a pharmacy in Miami-Dade’s Kendale Lakes neighborhood last month.

Teneric Jovan Collins-Jones entered the Navarro Discount Pharmacy at 14405 SW 88th St. around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2024, while employees and customers were inside, according to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office obtained by Local 10 News on Wednesday.
Authorities said shortly after entering the store, Collins-Jones jumped over the fragrance counter and into a restricted employee-only area while carrying a white laundry bin.
A arrest report states that Collins-Jones swiped different sets of perfume valued at about $3,187, placed the items in the bin, and left the store at around 7:40 p.m. without attempting to pay for the items.
A store employee working at the fragrance counter witnessed the theft, and the incident was captured on the store’s surveillance cameras, deputies said.
A background check revealed Collins-Jones was already in custody at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center on unrelated charges, according to investigators.
Detectives from the MDSO’s Hammocks District Burglary Unit linked Collins-Jones to several other cases involving thefts at Navarro establishments. Investigators determined he used the same method of operation to steal perfume merchandise in the Dec. 20 incident.
Detectives interviewed Collins-Jones at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center, where he was read his Miranda rights and provided a confession. However, details of his statement were redacted from the publicly-released report.
Jail records show he is facing one count each of burglary of an occupied structure and third-degree grand theft.
As of Wednesday, Collins-Jones is being held at the PTDC, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
