HOMESTEAD, Fla. – One person was rushed to a hospital’s trauma center overnight after a fire erupted inside a townhouse in Homestead, first responders confirmed.
According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the fire was reported just before 11 p.m. Monday inside the Waterstone Boulevard community, near the 4200 block of Northeast Ninth St.
Firefighters said units arrived at the scene to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.
Fire rescue officials said the call was upgraded to a second alarm “for additional manpower.”
The fire was then extinguished, but firefighters remained in the area overnight to monitor for hot spots.
Officials confirmed that one adult was airlifted to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital’s trauma center.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
