PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Celebrity chef Teach, known for his Miami-famous eatery House of Mac, is embracing “Veganuary” by introducing a new plant-based menu.
The South Florida chef, whose legal name is Derrick Turton, is a former music manager for Pitbull and is set to host a free tasting event at his restaurant on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
“I wanted to promote a healthier lifestyle while also creating a space where vegans and non-vegans can share a flavorful dining experience,” Turton said.
The new menu features creative vegan twists on comfort foods, including buffalo chicken mac and cheese and jerk chicken pasta, all made with chickpea-based proteins from a local Black-owned business.
Influencer and vegan educator Aisha, who inspired the menu, says it’s about more than just food.
“Eating plant-based helps the planet and saves animals while proving that vegan dishes can be flavorful and satisfying,” she said.
The tasting event will highlight how plant-based eating can appeal to everyone, whether for health, environmental, or ethical reasons.
