FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – Family and friends of 13-year-old Johvon Taylor Jr. gathered in Florida City Saturday to remember the young teenager who was shot and killed last weekend.
The service was held at Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, and many people gathered to pay their respects.
According to police, on the night of Jan. 4, Taylor was standing outside with a group of friends near Northwest 13th Street and Sixth Avenue when a gunman walked up and started shooting.
Paramedics airlifted the teen to Jackson South Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
A second teen was injured in the shooting.
Police are still searching for the shooter.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
