PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Several South Florida Macy’s stores and Furniture Galleries are expected to close in the coming months.
Macy’s made the announcement in a media release on Thursday to close nearly 150 underperforming stores across the country over the next three years.

66 stores, including the South Dade Furniture Gallery in Miami, Pembroke Furniture in Pembroke Pines, Ft. Lauderdale Furniture in Fort Lauderdale and the Boynton Beach Mall Macy’s in Boynton Beach are on the confirmed closure list. The Boca Raton Furniture Gallery location is also closed.
Other Florida stores in Tampa, Altamonte Springs and Sarasota are on also on the confirmed closure list.
According to the release, the company’s “Bold New Chapter” strategy outlines the plan which will reinvest in 350 Macy’s locations and provide continuous improvements both in-store and online.
“Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go–forward stores, where customers are already responding positively to better product offerings and elevated service,” said Tony Spring, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc.
Clearance sales at Macy’s Backstage and Furniture Galleries are expected to begin in February.
