The surveillance footage, captured by a nearby restaurant, shows two men near Northwest First Avenue and Broward Boulevard appearing to speak calmly before an encounter escalated, according to authorities.

Moments later, a man in a red jacket is seen chasing another man before lunging at him. The victim collapses to the ground as the culprit fled the scene.

Fort Lauderdale police said officers responded to the bus terminal just after 6 a.m. and found a man suffering from at least one stab wound.

Noon report:

ā€œThat guy had no coordination (and) no awareness because it was a new injury for me,ā€ a witness told Local 10 News.

Other witnesses said itā€™s unclear what the men were arguing about.

Authorities confirmed that the victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is being treated for his injuries.

Video from Sky 10 captured officers cordoning off the area with crime scene tape, while detectives on the ground meticulously placed evidence markers and searched for clues.

At one point, a crime scene technician was spotted retrieving evidence from the roof of a nearby convenience store as the search for the man continued.

Fort Lauderdale police said the culprit remains at large and detectives will continue to review the surveillance footage as part of their investigation.

Authorities have not disclosed any information about the victimā€™s age or identity.
