The stabbing was reported at 6:17 a.m. in the 100 block of Northwest First Street.
A Local 10 News crew was at the scene later in the morning and saw drops of blood on the street, a pair of sneakers and bloody clothing.
According to Detective Ali Adamson, the victim was transported to a hospital by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.
She said the suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving.
Witnesses told Local 10 News they weren’t sure what exactly happened before they realized the man had been stabbed.
“That guy there had no coordination, had no awareness, because it was a new injury for him,” one witness said.
A view from Sky 10 shows detectives at the scene surrounded by crime scene tape as they placed evidence markers in the area.
Several hours after responding to the scene, officers were seen conducting an investigation from the roof of a convenience store across the street from where the stabbing happened. One investigator climbed back down holding a box with the word “evidence” on it.
No other details were immediately released.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call the Fort Lauderdale Police Department or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
