The peak arrives for the first day back to school on Monday with high temperatures reaching 80 degrees.

A powerful winter storm moving across the country, bringing winter weather alerts to 96 million Americans, will swing a cold front through Florida on Monday night.

Expect very little rain as this front is only a temperature story for the southern half of the peninsula.

Our first sign of a temperature drop will be felt on Tuesday morning with the 50s. Temperatures will struggle to rise during the day, not even getting out of the 60s.

The heart of the chill will arrive Wednesday morning with widespread low temperatures in the upper 40s.

This is the coldest air in nearly two years, since cold fronts failed to drop Miami to the 40s last season.

The chilly weather will stay for the rest of the work week with a warm up back to nearly 80 degrees in time for next weekend.
