Police investigate shooting that left man hurt in Brownsville area

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are investigating a shooting incident that they said left a man hurt in Brownsville on Tuesday morning.

Officers responded around 9:55 a.m. to reports of a shooting in the area of Northwest 21st Avenue and 50th Street.

Upon arrival, authorities said they found a man suffering from a laceration to his hand.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue medics took the man to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, according to Angel Rodriguez, a detective with the Miami-Dade Police Department.

According to preliminary information, Rodriguez said the victim and another individual were involved in a fight when the suspect took out a gun.

As the victim attempted to flee, authorities said the suspect fired shots at him but did not strike him. The victim sustained a laceration as he ran away.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction, and investigators are working to gather more details.

Detectives have not disclosed any information on the victim’s age or identity and a motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time.
