Fort Lauderdale police said Anthony D’Amore, 73, had not been seen since last Friday. After responding to a wellness check Monday, they found his body in a business within the glass-clad, multi-story building at 6245 N. Federal Highway in the city’s Imperial Point neighborhood.
Police said surveillance video revealed that D’Amore had accompanied an “unknown individual” inside the building and into the business, just after 10 p.m. Friday.
“Surveillance video and other investigative techniques revealed that the unidentified individual left the business approximately two and a half hours later carrying several bags, but without D’Amore,” Detective Ali Adamson, a Fort Lauderdale Police Department spokesperson, said.
Adamson said detectives were able to identify the suspect as Nenad Milosevich. According to court records, the 56-year-old — also known by the alternative spelling Nenad Milosevic — lives less than a mile away from the crime scene in a condominium off Port Royale Drive.
Authorities have not said what the two were doing inside the building at the time and have not identified the specific business where the killing took place. An incident report containing additional details wasn’t immediately available Friday evening.
Police said they were able to locate Milosevich on Thursday and take him into custody on a second-degree murder charge, saying he confessed to the crime.
Authorities did not specify the alleged motive.
As of Friday evening, Milosevich was being held without bond in the Broward Main Jail.
