HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A man being evicted from a rental unit in Hallandale Beach took an unusual approach to moving out, leaving with nearly everything except the kitchen sink.
The incident occurred at the Hallandale City Center, a new rental community located at 500 N. Dixie Hwy.
According to police, the man, identified as Ismael Alvarado, removed all appliances, including the refrigerator, microwave, and washing machine, but left the kitchen sink behind.
“It’s just a matter of finding them, locating them and arresting them,” said Grace Mariot, a spokesperson for the Hallandale Beach Police Department. “We don’t tolerate this kind of behavior.”
“The police is outraged,” Mariot added. “My recommendation is for you to turn yourself in. We want to make sure our residents feel safe and we don’t tolerate this type of behavior.”
Police said the search is on for Alvarado, who is suspected of theft. Authorities are urging him to turn himself in along with the items he swiped.
