During Surfside’s investigation, Miami Beach police was investigating another high-end car theft, which initially led to a pursuit and Haynes in handcuffs.

The victim of the stolen Porsche spoke exclusively to Local 10 News, expressing gratitude for the police response.

“The cops did an awesome job, I mean their response, you know, the follow-up,” the victim said. “I saw your report, and I was happy, I was, you know, pleased.”

Surfside Police Chief Wayne Holbrook called the case significant, noting a recent uptick in high-end vehicle thefts in communities such as Surfside and Miami Beach.

“It’s incredibly important because we have had a rash of high-end thefts throughout the coastal communities,” Holbrook said.

The Porsche was stolen in broad daylight late last month, an incident Holbrook described as “pretty brazen.” He said with assistance from Miami Beach, Miramar, and city of Miami police departments, detectives were able to identify Haynes as a suspect.

“He was not only arrested previously, but he was arrested with a firearm,” Holbrook said, adding that Haynes is currently at large. “I would like for him to turn himself in.”

Haynes was last apprehended on Dec. 10 after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase, according to Florida Highway Patrol. He was released but remains wanted in connection with multiple charges, including dealing in stolen property.

Police continue to appeal for the public’s help in locating Haynes, emphasizing the importance of addressing this crime spree for the safety of the community.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts or with information on the case is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
