MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The driver of a gold-tone sedan died on Saturday in a fiery hit-and-run crash on Interstate 95 in Miami-Dade County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a dark blue BMW sedan collided with the Nissan at about 4:10 a.m., on I-95 southbound at Northwest 79 Street and fled was in a dark blue BMW sedan.
“Both vehicles traveled several hundred feet before coming to final rest in the outside lanes of I-95,” Lt. Alex Camacho, a spokesman for FHP, wrote adding, “Due to the collision, the Nissan became fully engulfed in flames with the driver still inside.”
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel extinguished the fire.
“The driver of the Nissan died on scene,” Camacho wrote. “Due to the duration of fire, the roadway has been significantly damaged and requires repair.”
Fire rescue personnel also responded to Saturday morning car crashes on the Florida Turnpike at Hollywood Boulevard in Broward County and along I-75 at mile marker 29. The crash on the Turnpike was fatal.
