The judge told the courtroom that he wasn’t going to publish the verdict because the other jury is still deliberating the fate of Noel Doorbal.

For either man to be sent back to death row, at least eight of 12 jurors must vote to recommend it.

Doorbal’s jury began their deliberation before Lugo’s, just before noon. The verdicts will only be read once both juries have decided.

Nearly 30 years ago, Doorbal and Lugo were bodybuilders and members of the Miami Lakes Sun Gym Gang.

In 1998, they were convicted of kidnapping and killing Kristina Furton and Frank Griga as part of an extortion plot.

The two were injected with horse tranquilizers, Griga was beaten, both were dismembered and found inside metal barrels. The crime inspired the 2013 movie Pain and Gain.

Lugo and Doorbal’s prior death sentences were later thrown out, leading us to present day. On Wednesday, both juries heard closing arguments.

A verdict from Doorbal’s jury could come in at any time. They will be back on Friday to resume deliberations at 9 a.m.
