BOCA RATON, Fla. – One person is dead following a police-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday morning in Boca Raton, authorities confirmed.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirmed that it was requested to investigate the officer-involved shooting by the Boca Raton Police Department.
“FDLE’s investigation is limited to the officer’s use of force,” a spokesperson for the agency told Local 10 News in an email.
According to WPBF in Palm Beach County, Second Street and Second Avenue were closed to traffic after the shooting, which occurred near the police station.
Sky 10 was over the scene hours later as the suspect’s body was covered by a tarp under a tent.
WPBF reported that the police department did not immediately provide the health status of the police officer involved in the shooting.
No other details were immediately released.
