PLANTATION, Fla. ā A Plantation house fire that left a beloved doctor dead is being investigated as a possible case of arson, sources with knowledge of the matter tell Local 10 News.
Dr. Karen Ruthman died after being pulled from the Dec. 5 fire at her home at 12350 NW 23rd Court in the Plantation Acres neighborhood.
Ruthman, who ran a family practice clinic in Weston, shared that home with her husband, fellow physician Dr. Barrington Murray, an obstetrician-gynecologist in Plantation.

Sources said a gas can was spotted on the scene that day.
Ruthmanās cause of death and toxicology results have not yet been revealed as the case pushes forward.
Friends and loved ones held a memorial for Ruthman on Friday.
Police have not said they are looking for any suspects and have described the case as a ādeath investigation,ā rather than a criminal one, as of Monday.
