MIAMI – The Miami Parking Authority is warning that scammers are putting their own QR codes on top of legit, city-placed codes in order to direct you to a sham website and siphon bank information.

So to be proactive, the parking authority is not only removing any fake stickers, they’re also covering the legit QR codes altogether.

The message here is that if you still see a QR code, don’t use it, and use the PayByPhone app instead.

It’s something resident Miguel Ochoa does anyway.

“I recommend that, it’s very good,” said Ochoa. “There are many scams right now.”
