TAMARAC, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office was outside a home in Tamarac for hours overnight after they said an armed man barricaded himself inside the house.
Just before 8 a.m. Friday, BSO spokesman Carey Codd confirmed that deputies found the man, Chadwyck Reid, 34, dead inside the house from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
No one else was found inside the home in the 5000 block of Northwest 50th Street, authorities confirmed.
Earlier in the morning, a SWAT vehicle and other equipment could be seen outside the house.
Neighbor Juan Acevedo told Local 10′s Hannah Yechivi that this type of scene is unusual in the senior citizen community, but a similar scene played out just days ago.
“And it’s been happening because a couple of days ago, this also was the same type of scene -- all closed off like this,” he said.
Sky 10 captured some damage to the home’s window and deputies searching inside the residenc.
Acevedo said he heard a few loud gunshots Thursday night.
“Last night, we heard the gunshots and it was very close to here,” he said.
Authorities did not immediately disclose why Reid had barricaded himself inside the home.
