SURFSIDE, Fla. – Three people were injured Friday morning at a high-rise building in Surfside where construction work was being done, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials confirmed.
According to MDFR, units responded to the building in the 9100 block of Collins Avenue after receiving a “medical call with traumatic injuries” shortly before 11:45 a.m.
Authorities confirmed two of the injured were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, while a third person was taken to a nearby hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Cellphone from the scene showed workers in bright orange and yellow safety vests as first responders tended to the injured. The nature of the accident remains unclear, and authorities have not confirmed whether the injured were workers or passersby.
Authorities said emergency responders shut down parts of Collins Avenue to allow ambulances to access the site.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue is investigating the circumstances of the incident.
