Police: Armed male wounded after Fort Lauderdale police officers respond to alleged mental health crisis

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – One person was wounded after police officers responded to his alleged mental health crisis on Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale’s Melrose Manors neighborhood, police said.

According to Detective Ali Adamson, a spokeswoman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, the shooting was at Southwest 25 Avenue and Third Street after the call for help shortly before 12:45 p.m.

“The male had a gun and was in the home with other people,” Adamson wrote.

Police officers used crime scene tape to surround the front of a blue house and parked police cars to block Southwest 25 Avenue.

According to Adamson, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel also responded and took the male wounded to the Broward Health Medical Center’s trauma center.
