MIAMI – Gregory Yearty, Jr., was 16 years old when deputies accused him of stealing a car in Palm Beach County and again a few days after he turned 17. Deputies also accused him of a burglary at 18, and by the time he was 19, he was a convicted felon.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Yearty was in prison for nearly six months in 2019 and from June 14, 2021, to Nov. 1, 2022. Records show he was back behind bars Wednesday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.

Detectives identified Yearty as the gunman who fled in a gray Lamborghini Urus after two valet attendants working for a restaurant caught him trying to steal a black Rolls Royce sports utility vehicle on Sept. 26, along First Street in South Beach, police said.

Records show the valet attendants told police officers that they were forced to let the gunman go when he threatened to shoot them. They reported that the gunman ran away and got into the Lamborghini Urus that someone else was driving.

It took over two months, patience, and the help of several police departments for Miami Beach police officers to solve the case. Records show a GPS tracker, surveillance video, and more witnesses were key to identifying and finding Yearty and his two alleged accomplices.

Police officers arrested Yearty on Tuesday and he appeared in court on Wednesday facing a charge of attempted armed carjacking. A judge denied him bond. Records show detectives believe Yearty worked with Stevie Gaskin, Jr., and Le-Sean Mountain, Jr., both of Fort Lauderdale.

Mountain, 24, is a convicted felon. According to the FDOC, correctional officers released him on Nov. 18, 2021. Records show that a witness who acted as a broker for a friend of the Lamborghini’s owner told detectives that Mountain paid $3,500 to rent it Sept. 25-27.

Broward Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies booked Mountain on Dec. 3 at the main jail after police officers arrested him in Hollywood. Records show he faced 10 charges, including three non-bondable offenses. He also had holds from Martin and St. Lucie counties.

Detectives identified Gaskin, 23, as the driver of the Lamborghini Urus after Yearty’s attempted carjacking on Sept. 26 in South Beach. Records show GPS data tracked the Lamborghini to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel where there was surveillance video of Gaskin and Yearty.

Gaskin was at TGKCC on Wednesday facing a charge of attempted carjacking without bond. Mountain was facing charges of facilitating the commission of a felony, three counts of aggravated battery on a police officer, aggravated fleeing, reckless driving, and probation violations.

According to the arrest warrants in the case, the car rental broker who allegedly had a deal with Mountain reported picking up the Lamborghini Urus in Lauderdale Lakes and driving it to Hialeah for a car wash before police officers saw it.
