Jail records show Ezechiel Jeune is facing two counts of attempted murder.
Miami police said the first incident happened on March 18 at a home near the 1400 block of Northwest 26th Street in the city’s Allapattah neighborhood.
Jeune’s brother told police he was attacked after answering a knock at his door. According to an arrest report, the victim fled to the backyard, but Jeune chased him, grabbed him, and stabbed him with a knife.
A witness told investigators he intervened by striking the ground with a shovel, prompting Jeune to back off. Police said Jeune walked away and placed the knives on the sidewalk as officers arrived.
The arrest report also detailed a prior incident involving Jeune’s mother on March 11. Police said they found her lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor of her home, suffering from a severe neck wound.
Both victims were critically injured and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and arrested Jeune in connection with both incidents.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the stabbings.
As of Wednesday, Jeune is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
