The shooting was reported shortly before midnight in the area of Avondale Drive and Southwest Second Street, just a few blocks south of the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Interstate 95.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene as a sheet covered the victim’s body next to the fence of a drug treatment/community release center.

One resident in the area told Local 10′s Trent Kelly that he heard several gunshots go off around midnight.

Deputies confirmed that they found a man who had been shot. Paramedics later pronounced him dead at the scene. He has since been identified as Roderick Henry.

Surveillance video provided by a resident in the area shows some of the first units arriving at the scene -- some using flashlights to search the ground for evidence.

Detectives later returned to the area during daylight hours to examine a large hole in the treatment facility’s fence.

Several neighbors told Kelly off camera that residents of the facility will often come hang out by the fence at night because there’s a hole in it that they can get through.

At this point, a motive for the deadly shooting remains unclear.
