Police officers responded to the shooting at about 3 a.m., in the area of Northwest 41 Avenue near 26 Street and North State Road Seven.

Fire rescue personnel took the man to the Broward Health Medical Center where staff pronounced him dead, according to investigators.

“There was somebody fighting in the parking lot,” said Pablo Rodriguez, who lives in the area.

Michael Scholler, an area resident, said a neighbor who lives in the apartment building’s third floor told him someone was laying in his parking spot.

“I see a dead man that has been shot,” Scholler said. “It’s horrible.”

Another neighbor, speaking off-camera, said she saw two cars speeding away as the critically injured teen collapsed in a parking spot.

Residents in the area expressed concern about increasing violence in their community.

“This place used to never be like this, but over the past couple of years, it’s gotten terrible,” Scholler said.

Rodriguez echoed those sentiments, describing his neighborhood as increasingly unsafe.

“This place is a very dangerous place right now,” he said.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
