Witnesses say Miami-Dade triple shooting was retaliation for ‘throwing rocks’

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The search for a shooter remains ongoing after three people were shot on Thursday night in Miami-Dade County.

It happened in the county’s Gladeview area, near Northwest 65th Street and 22nd Avenue.

According to a witness, the motive for the shooting that sent two teenagers, ages 15 and 17, as well as a 22-year-old, to the hospital, was retaliation.

“It was all over rocks, because somebody was throwing rocks,” said the witness, who did not want to reveal their identity. “Somebody was throwing rocks, they called their brothers and you know big brothers be protective. They came, they did what they had to do.”

Police said the victims were all standing in an empty lot when they were suddenly approached by a gunman who opened fire.

All three victims were hit in the lower extremities and the shooter took off.

“Those males are now being treated for their wounds and our detectives are here on scene canvassing the area for subjects as well as evidence,” said Miami-Dade police Detective Andre Martin.

All three were taken to Miami’s Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Anyone with information on the shooting or with information on the gunman is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
