MIAMI – The love of books starts early at The Miami Book Fair’s Children’s Alley, which has a schedule of theatrical performances, interactive science activities, hands-on crafts, and story times.

Stacey Abrams, a politician, lawyer, and voting rights activist, will present “Stacey Speaks Up” at 11 a.m., on the second floor of Miami Dade College’s Wolfson’s Building 3. Author Meg Medina will be moderating the talk. This event requires a free ticket online.
Wembly Wordsmith, Rita Readsmuch, and their curious monkey pal, Stanza, host The Story Wagon, just outside MDC’s Wolfson’s Building 1. The area’s schedule includes five storytime sessions.
- At noon on Saturday, award-winning Cuban American artist Edel Rodriguez will present “The Mango Tree,” an autobiographical book about his childhood.
- Saturday’s second session is at 1 p.m. with Kwame Alexander and Randy Preston who will present “How to Sing a Song” and “Black Star.”
- The session at 2 p.m. is with Meg Medina who will present “No More Señora Mimí.”
- The sessions on Sunday also start at noon with Laura Drosdowech, who will present “Magical Miami.”
- Susan Rose and Silvia Lopez will present “José and Feliz Play Fútbol” at 1 p.m.
The other events are classified for students by grade in the fair’s children and teen programs, pages 57 to 65.
The street fair opens from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., from Friday to Sunday. Teenagers need tickets; children ages 12 and younger do not. MDC students, faculty, and staff are free with valid identification.
