HIALEAH, Fla. – Newly-released home surveillance video from a neighbor shows the moments Cuban rapper El Taiger was shot; the video shows him being dragged by the suspect.
Video released in the murder case shows what prosecutors say is the rapper, whose real name was José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, standing at the door of a home for some time.
Suddenly, he is shot and falls to the ground. In the next clip, a man police identified as Damian Valdez Galloso is seen dragging his body across the front porch into the yard.
The shooting at a home in Hialeah off Southeast Fifth Street on Oct. 3. El Taiger was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the back of an SUV near Jackson Memorial Hospital. He would die days later.
For weeks, police searched for the 49-year-old Galloso, who was eventually located in New York.
Local 10 News was there when he was walked into jail, asking him in Spanish if he killed El Taiger.
Miami-Dade police confirmed detectives served a search warrant at the Hialeah home, with police activity captured by neighbors recording on their cell phones.
The motive for the murder is not known at this time.
Galloso is scheduled to be back in court in December. He is facing several charges, including second-degree murder and attempted tampering with evidence for trying to clean up the crime scene.
