Antavious, who was known by loved ones as Tay Tay, was struck by what police believe was a stray bullet.

The child’s uncle spoke on his sister’s behalf Thursday, who held her son’s shoe and carried his photo.

“There’s no rule book to this,” said Quin Williams, Antavious’ uncle. “Nobody knows how to take something like this. It has to stop.”

On Thursday, there was a show of support for the boy’s family from other mothers whose children were killed in senseless acts of gun violence.

Teretha Williams said she works at West Homestead K-8 Center.

“My grandson, Antavious Scott, was such a loving kid,” she said. “I just don’t know how…but by the grace of God, I’m quite sure he’ll help me through it, that I am going be able to walk the halls of that school.”

That’s because her grandson was a student there.

“As we go through our daily lives, we try to be strong, but we are hurting,” said Williams. “Lord knows we are hurting.”

The family and the community are hoping and praying that someone comes forward so that they can see justice for Antavious.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
