Police: Man killed in drive-by shooting in South Miami Heights

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning in South Miami Heights.

According to police, officers responded to the 19300 block of Southwest 116th Avenue just before 1 a.m. after receiving a report about a male being shot.

Police said officers discovered that the victim, identified as Esteban Arrufatt Jr., had been standing outside when a vehicle drove by and someone inside the car shot him.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported Arrufatt to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition, but he was later pronounced dead, authorities confirmed.

No other details were immediately released.
