MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police in Miami-Dade County are investigating a stabbing incident that left one man hospitalized.
It happened just before 7:40 p.m. Tuesday at Sabor Cubano Cafeteria restaurant, located along the 12800 block of Southwest Eighth Street.
According to authorities, there was a man who was causing a disturbance inside the restaurant, and another man, who was also a customer, stepped in.
Police said there was a physical altercation between the two, and the man causing the initial disturbance stabbed the victim multiple times.
The suspect then took off, according to authorities.
Authorities said the suspect, who was described as a white Hispanic man who is about 5-foot, 4 inches tall with royal blue hair, frequents the area. He was allegedly harassing a female employee, which is why the victim stepped in, police said.
“Prior to the altercation happening is that the subject was harassing one of the employees in the business, to the point where this person became uncomfortable, and our good Samaritan customer who intervened, he felt this and he saw this and he sought to address it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a physical situation and he is now fighting for his life at a local area hospital,” Detective Andre Martin said.
Police said the victim was rushed to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in critical condition. Witnesses told Local 10 that the victim is 39 years old and underwent emergency surgery overnight.
They said the suspect is known to them by the nickname “Shorty” and that he is believed to live in the area.
The investigation and the search for the suspect continues.
