Broward man accused of having images of child sex abuse worked for TSA, attorney says in court

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – An attorney said Wednesday in Broward County court that a man who was facing 10 charges related to images of child sex abuse worked the Transportation Security Administration for over 20 years.

TSA had yet to confirm Keith Grunfelder’s employment history, but OpenPayroll, a database of federal employees, listed him as a security clerical and assistance worker from 2017 to 2023 in Fort Lauderdale.

Police officers arrested Grunfelder, 52, who was born in Darmstadt, Germany, and lives in Margate, on Tuesday. Broward Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies booked him at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale.

Grunfelder was facing eight counts of possession, or control, or view of depiction of child sex conduct; a charge of person in state transmitting child pornography; and compiling entering computer child pornography. A judge set his bond at $75,000.

Court records show Broward County Circuit Judge Michael A. Usan is set to preside over the case.
