Authorities said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment. His condition was not disclosed by police.
Surveillance video provided by MPD’s Real-Time Crime Center helped officers identify a vehicle linked to the shooting, according to the report. Police said they located the vehicle hours later and conducted a felony stop, detaining two suspects, identified as 43-year-old James Usry, of Opa-locka, and 41-year-old Leronne Harden, of Fort Lauderdale.
Both suspects were read their rights and provided confessions, which were redacted from their publicly released arrest reports. Authorities confirmed the investigation is ongoing, and police have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting.
Jail records show Usry is facing one count each of second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon during a felony, carrying a concealed firearm, and shooting or throwing a deadly missile. Harden is also charged with second-degree murder and being an accessory after the fact.
As of Monday, both men remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with their bonds listed as “to be set.”
