MIAMI – The Miami Book Fair has been preparing to kick off an 8-day schedule of events in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
It all starts with a free block party from 4 to 9 p.m., on Sunday, in the area of Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, along Northeast Fourth Street, between Northeast First and Second Avenue, in downtown Miami. Joi Cardwell will perform and DJs Tedd Patterson, Hector Romero, and Tony Touch will be on stage.

The stars on stage during the indoor events in the public college’s classrooms and auditoriums will be the literary talent, so while loud music plays outside, two journalists are among the authors with ticketed events on Sunday afternoon.
Don Lemon has an event at 4 p.m., at the second-floor auditorium in the college’s Building 1, at 300 NW 2 Ave. The ticket is $35 and includes a copy of the former CNN host’s book, “I Once Was Lost: My Search for God in America.” Amir Tibon, an Israeli journalist, will be talking about “The Gates of Gaza: A Story of Betrayal, Survival and Hope In Israel’s Borderlands.” The $35 ticket also includes a copy of the memoir.
The fair’s organizers encourage planning and using the event calendar page to learn which events require tickets. The event’s page will have a link to purchase a ticket. Don’t despair if the event is sold out; the fair also has a livestream schedule.
The fair ends with a ticketed three-day street fair with food and books for sale from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Nov. 22-24. There is a children’s section with events. Teenagers need tickets; children ages 12 and younger do not. MDC students, faculty, and staff are free with valid identification.
