PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Sara, a tropical storm affecting Central America on Friday, was forecast to move into the Gulf of Mexico.
South Florida needs to track the storm as The National Hurricane Center reports it could start to merge into a cold front next week and shift east toward Florida.
Tropical Storm Sara was causing heavy rain in Central America on Friday. The National Hurricane Center reported a continued westward motion to continue before a slow west-northwestward shift by late Saturday and an approach to the coast of Belize early Sunday.
The center of Sara will likely remain over water to the north of Honduras after landing Thursday night on the Honduras-Nicaragua border.
Meanwhile, temperatures in South Florida lowered to the high 60s and 70s on Friday ahead of a night with drier, cooler air. Temperatures will get lower on Saturday morning.
