STUART, Fla. – Plans for a Brightline train station in Martin County are back on track, after commissioners approve plans.
In a meeting on Tuesday, Martin County Commissioners voted unanimously to start negotiations to build the station which would add one more stop between Orlando and Miami-Dade County.

In September, the board of The City of Stuart Commissioners voted 3-2 to rescind a ground lease and train station agreement for a Stuart connection with Brightline.
The proposed Stuart station was located on 2.35 acres in the heart of historic downtown Stuart in Martin County.
The City of Stuart, Martin County and Brightline planned to share the costs for the $60 million station, which would have been located approximately 40 miles north of Brightline West Palm Beach.
The high-speed rail company celebrated the inaugural launch for its Miami to Orlando route in Sept. 2023.
There are currently stations in Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach and Orlando.
The Stuart station is expected to be operational in 2028.
