PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Extra police officers will be on the campus of one Pembroke Pines charter school this week after threatening statements were made against it, police confirmed on social media.

According to Pembroke Pines police, over the weekend, the department was made aware of threatening statements toward Somerset Academy, located at 20803 Johnson St.
“Our Threat Assessment Team is actively investigating this incident, and are working with the Broward Sheriff’s Office and school administration to ensure the continued safety of the Somerset Academy campus,” the police department posted on social media. “While there are no active safety concerns on campus at this time, we take all threats seriously.”
No other details about the threat were immediately released.
“The safety of our children and school campuses remains our top priority,” the police department said. “Our department will update you as soon as we have further information to provide.”
