MIAMI – Miami police are investigating a crash Tuesday that seriously injured a bicyclist.
According to Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Pete Sanchez, a car struck the cyclist -- a 60-year-old man -- at about 5:30 a.m. in the area of Southwest 27th Avenue and 22nd Street.

Sanchez confirmed that the victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
According to Miami police Officer Mike Vega, westbound traffic on 22nd Street and 27th Avenue were shut down after the crash.
He confirmed that the driver remained at the scene.
Further information about what led to the crash was not immediately released.
