HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A house fire that occurred Tuesday morning in Hollywood is now under investigation.
According to Hollywood Fire Rescue officials, firefighters responded to a home in the 2600 block of Arthur Street.
Officials confirmed that one adult dog was pulled out of the home, along with two puppies and a turtle. All of the dogs were given oxygen and survived.
“They just made it. I gotta give them a bath and take them to the vet in a little bit,” homeowner Patrick Tsetsakis told Local 10 News.
Tsetsakis’ neighbor, Rick Ingle, is a former fireman and noticed the blaze first.
“I look out the window and saw fire coming from the two windows, and with an expletive I said, ‘Yes, it is on fire … call 911,’ and I called my friend,” Ingle said.
Tsetsakis had left for work shortly before he got that call.
“Underneath the window (there’s) an outlet, and it looks like it started there,” he said.
Tsetsakis’ wife and kids had already moved out to St. Augustine and he was still staying at the home to tie up loose ends before putting the house on the market, but now, they’re dealing with this.
“We decided to move,” he said. “I stayed back to finish the house up and get it ready to be sold. This is gonna set us back now.”
No injuries were reported.
The official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Neighbors have created a GoFundMe page to help the Tsetsakis family pay for repairs to their home.
