MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – One person was killed and two were rushed by air to Jackson South Medical Center after a boat crash in Card Sound Saturday morning, according to first responders.
The crash happened at around 10:25 a.m. and, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, involved a 34-foot Nor-Tech. It comes two days after a boat crash off Key West that left one person dead and four others injured.
An FWC spokesperson said it appeared the boat “was traveling south when a sudden turn ejected all three occupants.”
A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesperson said Air Rescue crews “conducted a hoist operation with a Stokes basket to rescue two patients” from the water.
“Divers were deployed to the water to search for a third patient, (who) has been found,” the spokesperson said.
That person died, an FWC official confirmed to Local 10 News Saturday.
Authorities haven’t identified anyone involved, though they said they were not from the area.
The boaters had left from Homestead Bayfront Park, off Southwest 328th Street, north of the Turkey Point nuclear power plant.
